Mary Christina Ogden Hayden, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday June 1, 2026, in Flower Mound, Texas.
Mary was born to her parents, Willie Pearl Pendergrass Ogden and Henry Otis Ogden, Sr., in Beaumont, Texas on February 26, 1936.
She attended South Park High School where she had many friends and sang in the Melody Maids. After graduation, she attended the University of Texas where she met her husband, Tom. She and Tom married on December 23, 1956, in Beaumont.
Mary set up house and supported Tom while he earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics in 1961. They then moved to Lexington, KY because Tom was offered a teaching job at the University of Kentucky. In 1967, Mary and Tom welcomed their son, Tom Hayden.

She served in many offices with the opera and remained an Emeriti board member until her passing. Mary was also heavily involved in the Christian mission field. She helped build churches in Central America a few times as well as taking many trips to Mexico with her church, Southside Church of Christ, in Lexington, where she was a longtime member.
Mary and Tom remained in Lexington for over thirty years and never thought of relocating until their grandsons came. They got an apartment in Double Oak, Texas in 2004 and began making the transition between Texas and Kentucky for three years. In 2007 they permanently settled back in their home state of Texas. They were close to their son and his family and enjoyed every minute of it.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Edward Hayden III and his wife Karen; grandchildren, Daniel Hayden, Nate Hayden and his wife Graci, Mark Hayden; niece, Missy Ogden Hoyt and her husband Chase.
