Marjorie Joyce Tri, 85, of Clyde, passed away March 18, 2008 at a local hospital.

Memorial service will be at a later date in Maui, Hawaii.

Marjorie was born and raised in Surrey, England on July 3, 1922 to Stanley and Nellie Powell. She served in the Army of England during WWII; a member of the NCOA and the British Wives Club. She was a member of the Heavenly Rest Episcopal Church for many years in Abilene. She moved to Hawaii to live with her daughter, Jane for 6 years and attended the St. Johns Episcopal Church. She never met a stranger; she loved to do volunteer work at the Thrift House and at the Paramount.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane Anne Herrera and husband, Andy of Maui, HI, and Mary Ann Tri of Clyde; brother, Gordon Powell of Kent, England; sister, Doris Knights of England; nine grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews in England.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luverne Tri in 1989 and her son, John Leslie Sawyer in 2007.
