Lydia Alvarez

Lydia "Lily" Marquez Alvarez, 84, of Abilene passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30, 2022, in Abilene.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 US HWY 277 S, Abilene, TX 79606. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 837 Jeanette, Abilene, TX. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Lily was born on March 30, 1938, in Abilene, TX to the late Rafael Marquez and Eloise Rosales Flores. She married Angel Treviso Alvarez on September 28, 1953 and were blessed with 61 years together until Angel passed away on September 15, 2015. Lily was all about her family, as the MATRIARCH! She made sure everyone was loved and cared for and it didn't matter if you were family or not. She was a strong supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt! To know her was to love her. Lily was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Lily is survived by her daughters, Dolores Castillo, Sue Ann Moa; son, Angel Alvarez Jr, and wife Hannah; grandchildren, Miguel Castillo and wife Crissy, Michelle Sanchez and husband Danny, Melissa Trevino, Melinda Trevino, Gavino Trevino and wife Ibon, Joe Angel Alvarez; 12 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way; siblings, Peggy Santana and husband Julio, Rachel Arellano, Jack Marquez and wife, Lupe, Phillip Flores and wife Lori, Ricky Flores and wife Doris; numerous extended family and dear friends.

Lily was also preceded in death by her daughter, Vicky Alvarez; grandson, Angel Luis "Louie" Castillo and son in-law Adam Moa.
