Lucille was born on March 11, 1921 in Valera, Texas, the third daughter of Henry and Stella Dennis and was a 1941 graduate of Coleman High School.

Lucille married V.A. Townsley on May 23, 1941 in Coleman County, TX. They left Coleman County around 1942, and took up farming in Merkel until 1946, when they left the farm for a move into Abilene where she became active in the PTA program at the elementary school her children attended, and was a scoutmaster for the Cub Scouts. She continued to be active in all her childrens activities throughout their school years.
