Loyd Ivester

Loyd Omen Ivester, 53, of Abilene, Texas passed away on July 21st, 2025. Loyd was born on March 18th, 1972, in Abilene, Texas, to Jimmy and Chong Ivester as the youngest of two boys. Growing up he was a fun and extra smiley kid always kind and a friend to everyone. Very early on he found his love for football, gaming, and collectables. While attending Cooper High School, he followed his love for football and was a lineman, dawning the number 77. After graduating from Cooper High School in 1990, Loyd attended McMurry University, once again wearing the 77, while continuing to play football. Shortly after earning his bachelor's degree from McMurry University in 1995, he would join the family business, following in his mother's footsteps, by opening Lucky Beauty Supply in Abilene, Texas where he was known by all as "Lucky". This would be the start of his lifelong career supporting the Abilene community and building friendships that felt like family. Soon after opening Lucky Beauty Supply, Loyd opened a second business, Midnight Rodeo 3.

From these two businesses, Loyd earned a position as a trusted advisor and a reputation built on friendship, kindness, strength, and by TRULY caring for others. If there was something he could do to help others, he did it, and he did it often. He will be most remembered for his kindness.

Loyd was a member of the Abilene Black Chamber of Commerce, Dallas Cowboy and Sooner football fan, dog dad to puppy named Dong, and a loyal and trusted friend to countless people. Loyd will be remembered as a caring and supportive son, a fun-loving uncle, a friend who would do anything to make you smile, and a pillar in his community.

Loyd is survived by his niece Valarie, nephew Bobby, niece Heather, great-nephew Jadrian Carrasco, great-niece Mckenzi Tonne, and great-nephew Josiah Melchor.

Loyd is preceded in death by his parents Jimmy Paul Ivester & Chong Cha Ivester, and his brother Bob Ivester

Visitation services will be Thursday, July 31,2025 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel . Funeral Services will be Friday, August 1, 2025 at 10:00 AM. at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.
