Lonnie Reese Blackbourne, 90, passed away on December 4, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM.

Lonnie was born on January 15, 1935, to Haywood and Johnnie Blackbourne and grew up in Novice, Texas. He worked most of his life as a mechanic in the oilfield, a career that showcased his strong work ethic, skill, and dedication.

In his free time, Lonnie found joy in woodworking, creating beautiful handmade furniture that reflected his patience and craftsmanship. He also enjoyed fishing, tending to his yard, and feeding the quail and hummingbirds that visited his home. These simple pleasures brought him peace and happiness.

Lonnie loved his family with all his heart. Known for his giving spirit, he would do anything for anyone. He always wanted to ensure his family had not only what they needed, but also what they wanted. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will be cherished forever.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Haywood and Johnnie Blackbourne; his wife, Melba Blackbourne; and his brother Pete Blackbourne.

Lonnie is survived by his children, Rhonda Smith and husband Bart, and Lonnie Blackbourne; his grandchildren, Crystal Villarreal, Cassie Temple, Haley Holland, Jennifer Foerster, and Summer Blackbourne; several great grandchildren; and his two sisters, Glenda, and Betty.
