Lionel Brock

Lionel “Rex” Brock, 95, of Anson, TX passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022, in Abilene, TX.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Family Center. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 11:30 AM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.

Rex was born on December 22, 1926, in Killeen, TX to the late Forrest Glen Brock and Wilma Fay Elmore Brock. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy before marrying his true love Lauretta on February 4, 1947, in Baird, TX. They were blessed with 69 years together until she passed away on June 20, 2016. Rex was a hard worker and had many different and interesting careers over his lifetime included 10 years as an Alcohol counselor for the state of Texas mental health department. He also was an avid and talented arborist. Rex was a devout member of the episcopal church and was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal church.

Rex is survived by his children, Laura Howell and husband Tom, Sandra Brock; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; numerous extended family and dear friends.

Rex was also preceded in death a son, Bruce Brock.
