Lawrence Johnson

Lawrence Glenn Johnson, 87, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023, in Abilene, Texas. A visitation will be 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM, Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, January 9, 2023, in the Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Larry was born May 2, 1935, in Hollis, Oklahoma to L.D. and Ila Faye Johnson. He attended and graduated from Brawley Union High School in California. After high school he served in the U.S. Navy before attending West Texas College and graduating with his bachelor's degree in Marketing. On April 20, 1962, he married his first love Jessie Jean and remained married until her untimely death in 1977. On December 30, 1977, Lawrence married the second great love of his life Billie Jean and gained a bonus family that continues to grow. Larry and Billie spent 45 blissful years together. Larry was a great yet humble man that loved his family very well. He will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Jean Johnson; his parents; his sister, Phyllis Lopez; his grandson, Lowe Spence; and his great grandson Jonathan Baldwin.
Larry is survived by his wife, Billie Jean Johnson; his children, Vonda Fox (Bill), Jenny Johnson, Jo Ellen Barnhouse, Ann Langford, Barbara McGraw, and Gary Shugart (Ida); his grandchildren, Caleb Fox (Brennan), Annette Baldwin (Wesley), Brenda Crump (Bill), John Barnhouse (Jennifer), Mary Gonzalez (Angel), Greg Spence (Cari), Ken Langford (Michelle), Kim Wiginton (Mike), Nicholas Langford (Emily), Jacob Langford, John McGraw (Ruthie), Matt McGraw (Lauren), Alison Carnahan (Jerry), Andra Sessions (Ryan); several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
