Kristel Anne Cooley left this world unexpectedly from illness and gained her angel wings on April 24, 2024. Kristel was born to Doug and Ilona Alexander on June 10th, 1985, in Germany. She grew up and made memories with her older brother, David Alexander, eventually leaving Germany around the age of five. With her father in the military, they eventually settled in Abilene, Texas.
Kristel attended Cooper High School in Abilene where she took pride in being in the band and excelled in academics. During High School she met the love of her life Weylond Cooley. Kristel continued her education at Cisco Junior College achieving a certification in nursing. She took pride in caring for others and loved caring for babies. Kristel and Weylond dated for 5 years then married on November 8th, 2008. A few adventurous years later traveling the world they had two beautiful babies, Makayla Cooley,10, and Adalynn Cooley, 4, who were her whole world and her proudest achievements.
To anyone who knew Kristel knows she loved like a lioness. She was selfless, caring, kind-hearted, nurturing, and strong. She loved hard and loved deeply. She never stopped fighting for the things and people she loved and cared for. Every time you saw Kristel she had a big infectious smile on her face and was leaning in for one of her big warm hugs. Kristel never missed the big important events, not only for her girls but for everyone she loved. She loved to relax on the beach with her family and enjoyed the ocean more than any other place on earth. This is where she felt free and at peace.
“The tide recedes but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand. The sun goes down, but gentle warmth still lingers on the land. The music stops yet echoes on in sweet soulful refrains. For every joy that passes something beautiful remains.”
Kristel is survived by her husband, Weylond and their daughters, Makayla and Adaylnn Cooley; her parents, Doug and Ilona Alexander; brother, David Alexander. She will be remembered fondly by her family, including her in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Theo and Ingrid Wirdemann and Weldon and Norma Alexander; uncle, Norbert Wirdemann.
