Obituary

Kevin Hale Hines, age 75, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on August 16, 2026. He was born September 6, 1950, in Tyler, Texas, and raised in Athens, Texas, on the family farm established in the 1850s. The family was among the founding families of Henderson County. He was the son of Stonewall Jackson Hines and Ruby Ward Hines.

Kevin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Karen Hines; his children, Cliff Dean (Shannon), Rachel Snitker (Rod), Tori Brakefield, and Katrina Snyder (Brandon); and his grandchildren, Kellen Hines, Kason Milner, Charisma Milner Humeston, Caleb Dean, Aubrey Dean, Kinsey Dean, Everett Dean, and Jacob Snyder.

Kevin retired from Texas Instruments, where he served as QA Lab Supervisor on the TOW II Missile program. After retirement, he opened Jewels of Time, where he found joy in his work and the relationships he built. His customers became friends and extended family.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and playing golf. Above all, he cherished time with his family, especially family reunions, which were among his most treasured moments.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, warm spirit, and deep love for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial services will be held at Elmwood Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
