Kenneth Dale Rogers, 75, of Abilene passed away Saturday, January, 15, 2022 in Abilene.
Visitation for family and friends will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 21, 2022 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 21, 2022 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Kenneth was born July 14, 1946, in Abilene to parents, Ottis Rogers and Madge Tyler Rogers. He grew up and then graduated in 1966 from Clyde High School. Kenneth married LaWanda Ann (Henley) Rogers on April 20, 1968, at University Baptist Church, Abilene, Texas. They made their home in Clyde, Texas, where they resided for 29 years, before moving to Abilene. They welcomed their only child, Ann Marie, in December of 1976.
Ken had various careers during his lifetime. He traded crude oil for West Texas Marketing, owned and operated Bar K Quarter Horses, and sold real estate in Abilene and the surrounding area. In his earlier years, Ken was involved in any sport they would allow him to participate in. As he grew older, he spent hours riding cutting horses and bowling in several different leagues. Ken strived to be the best in all facets of his life. He achieved many accolades in the American Cutting Horse Association and American Quarter Horse Association. He also spent a number of years as one of the top sellers of real estate in the area.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaWanda Ann (Henley) Rogers; parents, Ottis Rogers and Madge Tyler Rogers; and brother, Adrian Edwin Rogers.
Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Ann Marie Smith and husband, Jason; three grandchildren, Kendell LeeAnn Foreman, Garet Smith, and Travis Smith; and close family friends, the Gallagher's of Clyde, Texas
Ann Marie would like to thank the staff of Kindred Hospice for their compassionate care during the last year; with a special thank you to Christine, Tanesha, and Tonja.
