Kathryn Sue Yancey

Kathyrn Sue Miller Yancey passed away on December 5, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease and dementia.

She was born on April 21, 1950, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Delbert and Doris Miller. Kathy was the fourth of six children.

Kathy grew up moving around the country as her father transferred with his job. She attended schools in several different states and graduated from Cooper High School in Abilene, Texas, with the Class of 1968.

On May 26, 2000, she married Allen Yancey. Kathy and Allen's life was full of adventures. They loved to square dance and line dance and did so for many years until Kathy's health interfered. They made several trips with his Air Force Reserves, with Kathy traveling to wherever he was to spend any free time with him. Kathy loved to travel and made trips to Hawaii, Alaska, South Dakota, Colorado, Mississippi, Maryland, Florida and even Australia.

Family was very important to Kathy. She spent many hours at soccer, softball, basketball and volleyball games. As she gained grandchildren, she watched and cheered at as many games as she could with them, too. Her faith and her church family were also very important to her. She loved the Lord and worship services and participated in as many programs as she could.

Kathy worked many years for the U.S. Postal System, first as an executive secretary in the main Abilene post office and finishing her career as the postmaster in Tye.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Doris Miller; cousin (and part-time sister), Joy Middleton; nephew, Jerry Snyder.

She is survived by husband, Allen Yancey of Abilene, son, Jason Reynolds and wife

Nicole of Weatherford; daughter Jennifer Burling and husband Gary of Abilene; stepdaughter Crystal of Gilmer, TX; Step-son Kevin Yancey of Abilene; step-son Ethan Yancey and Lori of Abilene; sisters JoAnn Snyder of Abilene and Margaret (Marky) Miller of Hebron, Nebr.; brothers Jerry Miller and wife Kathleen of North Platte, NE; Ken Miller and wife Debby of Abilene, Randy Miller and wife Georgiana of Abilene; along with numerous grandkids, nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 PM, December 20, 2025, at Elmdale Baptist Church, 233 Elmdale Rd South, Abilene, TX.

Elmwood Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
