Katherine Lea Trotter, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on June 30, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on May 8, 1956, in Galveston, TX, she was the cherished daughter of Dr. Billy Bob "B.B." Trotter and Peggy Lou Trotter (née Forsman).

A proud graduate of Cooper High School in 1974, Katherine's passion for the arts propelled her to earn a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics and Drawing from Texas Tech University in 1993. With a profound knowledge of art history and culture, she inspired countless students throughout her career, sharing her love of creativity with grace and enthusiasm. After graduating, Katherine moved to San Antonio, where she taught at St. Mary's Hall and worked as a Decorative Artisan, collaborating with high-end clientele.

Returning to Abilene to be closer to her loved ones, Katherine shared her gift for teaching in roles at Hardin-Simmons University, McMurry University, and Cisco Junior College. She approached her classes in ceramics and three-dimensional art forms with infectious energy, and her expertise in art history enriched her students' learning experiences.

Katherine was a devoted grandmother to Farren and Keeva Gollihar. She filled their lives with imaginative arts and crafts projects, leaving lasting memories of joy and creativity. She was a loving mother to her sons, Trip Gollihar and Trotter Gollihar, and is also survived by her siblings, Kristine Taylor, Karoleigh Armstrong, and Robert Trotter.

In honor of Katherine's life, a memorial service will be held on July 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her remarkable journey. An encore livestreaming event will also be available, ensuring that those unable to attend in person can participate in this tribute to her life.
