Karén Pierce

May 22, 1936 — June 10, 2025

On June 10, 2025 in Austin, Texas at the age of 89, Karén Mae (Tidwell) Pierce was called home to be with the Lord in heaven.

Karén was born in Haskell, Texas on May 22, 1936, to Lloyd Taylor “Skinny” Tidwell and Charlene (Allen) Tidwell. She spent her early years in Haskell and Baytown, Texas and later moved to Abilene. Karén graduated from Abilene High School in 1954 where she met the love of her life, William C. (Bill) Pierce, whom she married in 1955. Soon they moved to Houston, where Bill attended dental school and Karén worked as a draftsman for a large oil company to help pay for school expenses.

After returning to Abilene, she was active in the 14th District Dental Society auxiliary--past president. She enjoyed her time spent in the Abilene Junior League and in the Abilene Mother’s Study Club.

Karén was a long-standing member of the Bible Center/Abilene Bible Church for 47 years and later the Worship Center in Georgetown, Texas. She was a devoted follower of Christ. She found great strength in God’s word and in prayer, she loved hymns, and found hope in the promise of an eternal life.

Karén was a dearly loved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an extraordinary homemaker, a gracious host and wonderful cook. Her pecan pie and Thanksgiving cornbread dressing will forever be missed. She enjoyed travels with family and friends and cherished going to Lake Brownwood for outings with her family. She loved working in her yard even into her mid-80s, and she took joy watching sports, either live at her grandson’s games or watching on tv, especially college football.

Karén is survived by her son Brad Pierce, son Greg Pierce and daughter-in-law Carrie, grandsons Taylor, Colton, and Jackson, her sister Judy Eakins, brothers-in-law Joe Davis and Chuck Eakins, and five nephews.

She is now in heaven at peace in the presence of her savior Jesus and reunited with Bill and with her father, mother, and her sister Billie Davis.

A graveside service for the family will be held on Saturday June 14 at 1pm at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send a donation if you wish to the charity of your choice.
