Julia Ann "Judy" Lewis 89, passed away on January 31, 2022. She resided at The Woodlands
in Eastland, Texas. Even though illness took her from this life, her strong Christian devotion and love of family left behind a legacy of faith for family and friends.
Judy was born on February 6, 1932, in Lamesa, Texas, to the late Whitt Barrow and Anna Bell Redden Barrow. On May 19, 1951, Judy and Craig Lewis were married and began a long, happy journey of 69 years. Their life involved many relocations including time in Denver City, Plainview, Amarillo, Texas, Wichita, Kansas, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Judy employed her secretarial skills in offices wherever they lived. After retirement, Judy and Craig relocated to Abilene, Texas, where she was active at Southern Hills Church of Christ, especially enjoying the adult Bible classes. Due to health issues, she relocated to The Woodlands in Eastland, Texas, in 2019 to be nearer to family. Judy was a member of Daugherty Street Church of Christ in Eastland, Texas. She was an advocate for children, supporting the work of Hendrick Home for Children, Foster's Home for Children, Lubbock Children's Home, and St. Jude's Hospital for children.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Craig Lewis, her parents, two brothers, Fleet Brown of Seattle, Washington, and T.J. Barrow of Midland, Texas. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Jennie Barrow of Eastland, Texas, nephews Martin Barrow and wife Martha of Forney Texas, Tommy Barrow and wife Alice of Graford, Texas, Johnny Barrow and wife Carla of Midland, Texas, 5 great nephews and a great niece, cousin Sunny Barrow Hale and husband Bud of Orleans, Massachusetts, and numerous extended family and friends.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the caregivers and administration at The Woodlands Assisted Living Center and to Solaris Hospice for their compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations for the care of children be made in honor of our beloved Judy Lewis.
