Jimmy Turner

June 11, 1948 — September 28, 2008


Jimmy Dean Turner, 60, died Sunday, September 28, 2008 at his home in Clyde after a 3 year battle with cancer. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 30th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with entombment following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Mr. Turner will be moved to the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene when it is completed.

Jimmy was born on June 11, 1948 in Provo, Arkansas the son of Edis Carrol Turner and Lora Feen Cox Turner. He grew up and attended school in Abilene. Jimmy served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and received a Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal for his heroic service to our country. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 16 years. Jimmy enjoyed playing golf and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Judy of Clyde; his sons, Jimmy Wayne of Abilene and Justin of West Bountiful, Utah; two brothers, Russell Turner of Clyde and Jerry Turner of Abilene; and his grandchildren, Kayla, Karra and Brianna all of Abilene.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hari Kalla and staff for their exceptional care and service.
