Janice Cook

Mrs. Janice “Janet” L. Cook, age 83, of Anson, TX, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020 in her home surrounded by family.

She was born on December 22, 1936 in Anson, a daughter of the Vernon Victor & Celeste Jordan Jones. Janet wed her husband of 63 years, Nix Cook, Jr., on September 16, 1957 in Fort Worth, TX. She worked many years as a bookkeeper and was a longtime member of Faith Deliverance Community Church. She enjoyed time with family, especially holidays filled with sitting around the table playing boardgames, cards, or dominoes. She also loved to craft and sew, often blessing others with her creations.

Janet is survived by her husband of 63 years, Nix Cook, Jr.; her children and their spouses, Vernon Cook (Reyna), Cindy Norwood (Jim), Debbie Olow (Eugene), Laura West; her grandchildren, Christina Hirst, Andrew Norwood (Kristi), Jamie Hirst, Hollie Shelesky, Ali Cutlip (Randy); great-grandchildren, Tiffanie Hirst, Kinsley Hirst, Easton Norwood, and Gabriel Shelesky, and many more extended family and friends.

Janet was predeceased by her parents, Vernon & Celeste Jones; and her grandson, Victor Al Hirst II (VJ).

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 11am at Faith Deliverance Community Church in Abilene, TX. Interment will follow at the Texas State Veteran Cemetery in Abilene.
