James (Jim)Thomas Spain, Jr. passed away on September 16, 2026 at the age of 75.

Jim was born September 26,1950 in San Angelo, Texas to James Thomas, Sr. and Gladys Faye (Herman) Spain. He was their first born and was spoiled rotten until his sister and brother came along.

Jim attended elementary, junior high in San Angelo. He graduated from Central High School in 1969. He was a member of the Central Chorale and Future Teachers of America. He perused undergraduate classes at Angelo State University.

Jim was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. He achieved the Order of the Arrow as a teenager. He then took the skills he learned and held different leader positions as an adult including Scout Master. He resided at the VA and was the president of the Resident Council. He had many great staff who took care of him from physicians to dietary, pharmacy and the staff on the unit.

He joined the Air Force in 1971, was a fuel specialist and came out as a Buck Sargent. After basic training at Lackland AFB, he was stationed at Luke AFB in AZ, Aurora, Cannon AFB, Yokota, Japan, and Okinawa.

Jim was a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

He held many jobs throughout the years from motel management to riding the roads in an 18-wheeler hauling freight.

Jim was a member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Faye Spain, James and Edie Belle Spain (paternal grandparents), Max and Ola Herman (maternal grandparents) along with aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of the family.

Jim is survived by his wife, Verna Spain, daughters, Nicole and Rebecca Spain. He is also survived by his brother, Freddy Spain (Kathy) and sister, Beverly Spain. Also surviving him are his nieces, Tai Spain and Chelsia (Jeremy) Elmore and their sons, Ethan and Ronan, and extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and a special childhood friend, Brett Morris.
