Jimmy Partin III

Jimmy Partin III was born to James Washington (JW) Partin, Jr and Elsie Marie Pendleton Partin in San Angelo, Texas on June 14, 1942. Jimmy was raised on a working ranch outside of Abilene, Texas and he graduated from Abilene High in 1961. He then attended what was then called Texas Technological College in Lubbock, Texas where he was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi and a member of the Going Band from Raiderland. In the band, he met the love of his life and future wife, Patricia Ann (Pat) Martin of Hale Center, Texas. While earning his Bachelor’s degree, Jimmy became a licensed Realtor in 1963. After graduating from Texas Tech, Jimmy and Pat returned to Abilene and he went to work for his father at Jimmy Partin Realtors not only selling insurance and real estate, but also building and developing Abilene.

Jimmy was active in his community. Being an Eagle Scout himself, he served as the Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 215 helping shape the future of many young men. Jimmy was a member of the Jaycees for which he served as president, a member of Rotary and a board member for the YMCA. After losing his wife, Pat, in 1987, Jimmy raised his two young children, Sharla and J’Layne, while continuing the company his father started in 1946. Jimmy’s passion for real estate has helped shape countless Realtors in Abilene and the surrounding area through his mentoring, teaching at Cisco Jr College and giving guest lectures at all three universities in Abilene. His dedication to the field has not only built a legacy of realtors within his family, but has molded the landscape of Abilene. Jimmy’s decades of service to his community are the fruit of a deep love for West Texas and the people who call it home.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, JW and Elsie Partin, his wife, Pat Partin, and sister, Ann Partin Fanning.

Jimmy is survived by his daughter: Sharla D’Ann (Kes) Gilhome of Denton, Texas and son: J’Layne (Lauren) Partin of Abilene, Texas, nephew: Chris (Amy) Fanning of College Station, TX, grandchildren: Zoe Gilhome, JT Partin, Rachel and Anna White, grand nephew and nieces: Corbin, Amanda and Chelsea Fanning, and numerous cousins throughout Texas, but especially West Texas and the Panhandle.
