James Randall "Randy" Alexander

October 23, 1944 - January 22, 2026

James Randall "Randy" Alexander, 81, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on January 22, 2026, with his son by his side. He was born on October 23, 1944, in Abilene, and his birth was attended by his grandfather, Dr. Jim Alexander, as he was delivered into the world.

Randy served in the United States Navy and enjoyed participating in Veterans Day parades throughout his life.

Randy married Jeanna Faye Wise, and together they had two children, James Randall Alexander, II and Anna Lurline Alexander.

He was the son of Sydney and Patty Alexander of Abilene; the grandson of the late Dr. Jim and Anna Lee (Burns) Alexander; and the grandson of the late Jesse F. "T-Bone" Winters and Clara Pearl (Jackson) Winters, all of Abilene.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Sydney and Patty Alexander; his uncle, Dan Winters; and his grandparents.

Randy is survived by his son, James Randall Alexander, II, and his wife Donna, of Abilene; their children Jarad Dean Alexander and wife Dariene (their children Walker Taylor Alexander and Wilder Faye Alexander), Payton Winters Alexander, Connor Jackson Alexander, and Duncan Randall Alexander and wife Elizabeth.

He is also survived by his daughter, Anna Lurline Alexander of Wichita Falls, and her daughters Kristina Durham (children Lisette Juarez and husband Jose, and their daughter Lucy, along with Isaac, Eliana, Giovanni, and Adelynn) and Victoria Austin and husband Donald of Arizona (daughters Serenity and Faith).

Randy is also survived by his brother, Sydney McLemore Alexander, III, and his wife Jay; two nieces, one nephew, and numerous cousins.

Randy never met a stranger and was always ready to help a friend-or someone who quickly became one-in need. His travels carried him and his family from Colorado to South Carolina, down to Big Bend, and everywhere in between, but more than the destinations, Randy treasured the time spent together along the way.

He served as a Trustee in the Alexander Trust and on the board of the Alexander Building. He proudly carried on the horse breeding started by his mother and continued her passion for race horses. He had a lifelong sense of humor, including a memorable arrangement with his uncle Dan-the two "eligible bachelors" had lived together since 1986, sharing adventures, stories, and a unique camaraderie that never failed to make family and friends laugh.

Above all, Randy cherished family time and enjoyed sharing his wealth of knowledge about guns, history, family, and the many subjects he explored throughout his life. Much of these stories and lessons were shared sitting at the bar in the kitchen, where he delighted in teaching, storytelling, and laughing with anyone willing to listen. He also enjoyed spending time on the family ranch in Knox County, where his family and many friends shared in the experience and created lasting memories with him.

Randy was blessed with many lifelong friends and will be remembered for his generosity, humor, and steady presence. His legacy lives on through the stories he told, the lessons he shared, and the family he loved deeply.
