Isidoro Gonzalez

April 4, 1937 — June 29, 2024

Isidoro Gonzalez, beloved husband, father, grandfather (Ito), and great-grandfather (great Ito), passed away peacefully with his loved ones by his side. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Elmwood Funeral Home, with the rosary to begin at 7:00 PM. The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Born on April 4, 1937, in Mexico to Pablo and Paula Gonzalez, he was named after St. Isidore by his loving mother. The youngest in his family, Isidoro had a very special relationship with his sisters and was affectionately spoiled by them.

Isidoro migrated to the United States in pursuit of a better life. It was in Rhode Island that he met the love of his life, Frances. Together they raised their 3 children. They were married on June 1, 1974, and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He tenderly called her "honeymoon," a testament to their enduring love.

A hardworking, simple man, Isidoro found joy in listening to music and cooking. He especially enjoyed cooking for his church community, which he was very passionate to serve. He was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a long-standing member of the Knights of Columbus, where he formed many lasting friendships. Isidoro had a very generous spirit to help and to serve. Isidoro had a great sense of humor and often loved to tell his jokes. Even throughout his illness, Isidoro remained in good spirits and his family got to capture his silliness. He had a tremendous amount of faith and strength, something he found important to instill in all his children. Isidoro was given different nicknames from those close to him. Whether he was Tio Lolo, Mr. G, Speedy, or Izzy, he loved the endearment.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Andrea Mancha (Jesus), Juan Ramon (Eva), Cirila Aguilar (Juan), Gavina Mancha (Juan), and Juanita Aguilar (Jesus).

Isidoro is survived by his wife, Frances Gonzalez; his children and their families, Margarita Gonzalez, Paulo Gonzalez (Maria) grandchildren: Kenneth, Edrick, Kaiyah, Eurlon, Jesse, Lazzaro, and Maria Gonzalez Muñoz (Lalo) grandchildren: Andres Muñoz, Adrian Muñoz and Alyssia Martinez (Jacob) great-grandchildren: Penelope, and Diego Martinez, Martha Zapata (Rogelio) 3 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, Urbano Gonzalez 1 grandchild and 3 great-grandchildren, Mario Gonzalez (Delia) 4 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, Jesus Gonzalez (Juanita) 6 children and 8 great-grandchildren, Juanita Aranda (Juan) 2 grandchildren, Jose Gonzalez (Maria) 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews that he was very loved by, and that he held dear to his heart.

Above all, Isidoro loved his family deeply and unconditionally. He was a wonderful husband, a dedicated father, a cherished Ito, and a revered great Ito. His family and friends loved and cared for him until the very end, honoring the incredible man he was.

A special thank you to the friends who supported and helped take care of Isidoro during his illness. Your kindness and support will be cherished in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
