Hunter Blake Patterson (HP), 31, passed away Friday, May 15, 2026. A time of visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 21, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 1333 N. 3rd, Abilene, Texas. Interment will be in the Hamby Cemetery.
Hunter was born August 13, 1994, to Eric and Stacy Patterson in Abilene, Texas. He grew up in Clyde and graduated from Clyde High School in 2012. During his school years, Hunter proudly played both baseball and football for Clyde ISD, building lifelong friendships and memories through his love of sports and teamwork.
Following graduation, Hunter pursued a life of service by becoming a paramedic and firefighter. For the past 11 years, he faithfully served the Abilene community as a firefighter, dedicating his life to protecting and helping others. His courage, compassion, and selflessness left a lasting impact on countless lives.
On October 27, 2018, Hunter married the love of his life, Whitney Pool. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with three precious children who became the center of Hunter's world. Above all else, being a husband and father was Hunter's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. He loved his family fiercely and treasured every moment spent with them.
Following in the footsteps of his dad, Hunter had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid hunter who traveled all over the world pursuing adventures and making memories. He also loved golfing and had recently been spending time practicing at Shady Oaks Golf Course as practice for the upcoming firefighting Olympic team. In addition to his many hobbies, Hunter had a special love for animals and enjoyed caring for them.
Hunter shared a special friendship with Brett through their mutual love of hunting and coaching their kiddos, Bryson, Blakely, Saylor and Knox's tee-ball team and had plans of coaching Bryson and Knox's flag football team this coming fall. The two had just finished the baseball season together, pouring their hearts into the lives of their children and community. Both men touched so many lives and leave behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Devearl and Joyce Patterson.
Hunter is survived by his wife, Whitney Patterson; his children, Blakely, Knox, and Saylor; his parents, Eric and Stacy Patterson; his sisters, Kyla Alaman and husband Jason, and Kelcey Williams and husband Jeff; his nieces and nephews, Briar Alaman, Hayes Alaman, Copelyn Williams, Creed Williams, Nolan Pool, Hanson Pool, and Dylan Pool; his grandparents, Mike and Linda Roberts; his father and mother in law, Anthony and Sandy Pool; his brother in law, Scott Pool and wife Kaycee; his grandfather, Don Pool; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, fire family, hunting family, golfing family, and friends.
The pallbearers will be Brandon Black, Laramy Richardson, Scott Pool, Jeff Williams, Jason Alaman, and Skylar O'Donald. Honorary Pallbearers will be Colton Patterson, Tristan Patterson, Dawson Woodson, Jeff Waggoner, Wesley Bryan, and Brad Johnson.
Hunter will be remembered for his servant's heart, his adventurous spirit, his unwavering loyalty to his friends, and the deep love he had for his family. His presence brought strength, laughter, and comfort to those around him, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
