Gregg, passed away on August 5, 2025, he was 60 years old. Gregg was born on August 20, 1964, in Wichita, Kansas, and was raised in Abilene, Texas, where he graduated from Abilene Cooper High School.

Early on in his life, Gregg worked with his hands and heart. He built a career in construction, including air conditioning and heating, general labor, and later as an independent landscaper. His sense of humor left a lasting impression on his friends and loved ones.

Gregg met his former wife, Angie, with whom he shared three children who were the pride of his life: Tara Clark (40), Gregory II Gomez (38), and Bryman Gomez(36).

He was preceded in death by his father, John Gomez Sr.; his niece, Melissa Ferguson; his brother-in-law, Boyd Baack; and his former wife, Angie.

Gregg is survived by his adored mother, Mary Gomez of Abilene; his sister, Tanya Valdez and her husband Carlos of Abilene; and his brother, John Gomez Jr. and his wife Sandy of Lubbock. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Brianne - daughter, (Mazzy) of Austin, Brittany of Austin; Cory Faust and wife Kristina - kids (Jordan and Peyton) of Lubbock, Melissa’s husband, Brandon Ferguson kids - (Sydney and Kellan) of Lubbock; and Taylor Guesnier and her husband Joseph - kids (Emerson and Easton) of Lubbock.

Gregg found joy in the simple things. He loved collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia and had a lifelong fascination with Harley-Davidson motorcycles. One of his favorite pastimes was scratching off lottery tickets—lovingly referring to them as his “scratch and sniffles.” He also enjoyed relaxing in his man cave, sipping a few beers while admiring his Mickey Mouse collection.

Gregg was deeply loved by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his big heart, easygoing nature, and the laughter he brought to those around him. His presence will be missed more than words can express.
