Frances James

Frances Louise James, 88, passed away on February 1, 2022, in Abilene. Her funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, February 7, 2022, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

Frances was born in Cleburne, TX to the late, Granville and Ruby Johnson. She graduated high school in Cleburne and earned her bachelor's degree from McMurry University. She married Kenneth James and they raised their family and enjoyed life together until his passing in 1995. She was a fantastic mother and grandmother, a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She spent most of her years as a homemaker but always said her favorite job was working the candy counter at Kress Dept Store.

She enjoyed researching genealogy, studying history, and reading. She was a member of Senior Splash aerobics swim class and enjoyed spending time with her friends there.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Teresa Rhoades and husband Leon; her son, Kris James and wife JoAnn; daughter in-law, Cheryl James; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; son, Peter James; 2 brothers; one sister.
