Frances Calderon, 79, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, March 1, 2026, in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A Rosary will follow at 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 2, 2026, at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 2525 Westview, with interment to follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Frances was born on September 24, 1946, in Lampasas, Texas, to John and Ruperta Melchor. At the age of five, her family moved to Abilene, Texas, where she remained a lifelong resident and built a life rooted in faith, family, and service.
A devoted and longtime member of St. Vincent Catholic Church, Frances found great joy in serving her church community. She lovingly contributed her talents by making hair pieces, sewing, and assisting with church retreats-quiet acts of service that reflected her deep faith and generous heart.
Frances worked as a Dental Technician for more than 50 years. She took pride in her work and was known for her dedication, strong work ethic, and reliability. Even through long years of labor, she remained committed and hardworking.
She was the oldest living sibling in her family, a role she carried with strength and grace. Above all else, Frances treasured her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, proud aunt, and a cherished grandmother who gave her family unwavering love and support.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mario Calderon; her parents, John and Ruperta Melchor; one grandchild, Axton Melchor Juarez; and two siblings, Juanito Melchor, and Eligio Melchor.
Frances is survived by her children, Eddy Melchor and wife Maria, and Michelle Melchor Juarez and husband Everett, Teresa Calderon Martinez and husband Macario; her grandchildren, Jonathan, Alysia, Christian, Giovanni, Gabrielle, Eliana, Macario (Cruz), Deacon, Asher, and Ciana; siblings, Cynthia Gonzalez, Juanita Murillo, Johnny Melchor, and Macario Melchor; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Frances will be remembered for her faith, her tireless dedication, and the love she poured into everyone around her. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched.
