Ferrell Parker

July 30, 1934 — October 5, 2022

Ferrell Gene Parker was reunited with his parents in heaven on October 5, 2022. He was 88 years old but still living life on his independent terms!

He was born in Gorman, Texas on July 30, 1934 to Z.T. and Oma Parker and was their only child. His mother died when he was 5 years old. At the age of 18, he joined the US Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. After his discharge from the USAF, he worked with his father as a concrete mason and eventually went to work as a driver for Frozen Food Express.

In 1959 he met and married a beautiful lady known as Katie Lou Strictland. Ferrell and Katie established their home in Carrollton, Texas where they started a family and were blessed with 4 children, Zachary Lyle, Darrell Anson, Katie Regina and Sarah Beth.

Ferrell worked for several construction companies before starting his own commercial construction company. He was responsible for building many well-known establishments throughout the USA. His knowledge and experience within the construction industry was well respected by owners who entrusted him as their General Contractor. Some of his projects included IHOP, Dairy Queen, Wendy's, Steak and Ale, Church's Chicken, Mrs. Field's Cookies, Block Buster Video, Safeway Grocery Stores and the list goes on. His sons, Zach and Darrell worked with him for many years contributing greatly to his success.

His hobbies included reading and aviation. He took lessons for his pilot's license but stopped after achieving his solo flight due to the demands of his construction company. He was an avid reader and loved to read both fiction and non-fiction. He loved history and stories about WW II and the holocaust. Although he read hundreds of books in his lifetime, no book compared to the love of his bible. He read the bible cover to cover numerous times. His bibles have worn pages with markings and notes. He loved sharing the love of Christ with everyone he met. In fact, he would want you, the person reading his obituary to know that Christ loves you, he died on the cross for your sins and if you have not accepted Jesus Christ, you can do it now by asking Jesus to forgive your sins, accept him as the Son of God by faith. It really is that simple!

He will have a graveside service at the Veteran's Cemetery in Abilene, TX on October 14, 2022 at 1pm. Services under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home in Abilene, TX.
