Evelyn Childers

Evelyn Childers, 94, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009 in Abilene. Her graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Alpine, Texas. Viewing will be between the hours of 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM on Friday, May 15th at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.

Mrs. Childers was born and raised in Sanderson, Texas Alpine shortly after her marriage to Sam Childers where she was a resident most of her adult life. She has been a resident of Covenant Place in Abilene for the past 3 years where she enjoyed attending church services and playing games with other residents.

Survivors include her son, Billy Evan Childers and wife Daisy of Abilene; grandchildren, Carla Williams, Karen Weatherman, Tammy Hilderbran, Pam Arthur, Lisa McKinny, and Lucy Murphy; 14 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
