Emelia Gonzalez

Emelia Hernandez Gonzalez, 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday January 3, 2026, in Abilene, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 S. Abilene, TX. Funeral service will be Friday, January 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, 2525 Westview Dr. Abilene, TX.

Emelia was born on May 30, 1953, in Donna, Texas to her father Agustine Hernandez Cruz and mother Tomasa Pina Ferritiz.

She was a devoted wife to her husband Angel M. Gonzalez; and they shared a lifelong love of 58 years. Emelia was a dedicated family woman who found her greatest joy in the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a woman of many talents and passions; she loved to garden and go shopping. She was best known for her excellent cooking, especially her tamales. Beyond her home, Emelia was a big supporter of her family's legacy, frequently dedicating her spare time to helping at the family-owned business, Delk Processing. Her warmth, hard work, and devotion to her loved ones will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband, Angel M. Gonzalez; her daughter, Minerva Barragan and husband Gilbert; her son, Angel Gonzalez Jr. and wife Patricia; her son, Mario Gonzalez and wife Monica; her son, Juan Ricardo Gonzalez and wife Dolores; her grandchildren, Mark Anthony Gonzalez, Zachary Gonzalez, Gabriel Chacon, Salvador Sigala, Juancarlos Gonzalez, Noah Gonzalez, Elena Gonzalez, Justin Lee Gonzalez, Bianca Marie McDow, Vanessa Martinon, Alan A. Gonzalez, Sebastian Gonzalez, and Elijah Maldonado, Gilbert Barragan Jr., and Amy Barragan; her great grandchildren, Micah Gonzalez, Mason Gonzalez, Ariana Gonzalez, Morgan Gonzalez, Zeth Gonzalez, Carolina Gonzalez, Emalynn Chacon, Oaklynn Chacon, Braylon Sigala, Liliana Gonzalez, Elias Gonzalez, Mateo Gonzalez, Allyson Barragan, Olivia Gonzalez, Kross McDow, Monse Martinon, Evangeline Emelia Maldonado, Ziara Barragan, Christian Barragan; her siblings, Juan Hernandez Pina, Amparo Hernandez Pina, Guadalupe Hernandez Pina, Augustine Hernandez Pina, Maria Elena Hernandez Pina, Maria Louisa Hernanadez Pina, Juan Thomas Hernandez Pina; and many other family and friends.

Emelia is preceded in death by her father, Agustine Hernandez Cruz; her mother, Tomasa Pina Ferritiz; her sister, Margarita Hernandez Pina.
