Elizabeth MacKay Heronymus, 92, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, in Abilene, Texas.

Elizabeth was born on January 6, 1934, in Sunderland, England, to Alexander and Hanora MacKay. She grew up in London, England before moving to the United States after marrying a United States Air Force serviceman. Her life was marked by dedication, resilience, and a willingness to embrace new places and experiences.

Elizabeth enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with the Air Force as an Air Force spouse and served with AAFES for more than 20 years. She retired from Fort Stewart in Georgia after many years of dedicated service.

Following her retirement, Elizabeth made Abilene, Texas, her home, where she was a resident for more than 30 years. She cherished the quiet pleasures of life, especially painting, reading, and her beloved pets. These hobbies brought her joy and provided opportunities for creativity and peaceful reflection.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Hanora MacKay; her siblings, Robert MacKay, John MacKay, James MacKay, and Mary Harris.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Fred Heronymus, and Tina Huddleston; her granddaughters, Alexandra Heronymus, Hannah Gabriel, and Rachel Huddleston; her great granddaughters, Brooklyn Gabriel, Ava Gabriel, Tatum Gabriel, and Natalia Gabriel.

Elizabeth will be remembered for the life she built, the many places she called home, and the years she spent as a valued member of the Abilene community. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
