Dorothy Denise
Brown
May 18, 1955 — May 6, 2026
The Life & Legacy of Neicey,
Dorothy Denise Brown was born on May 18, 1955, in Abilene, Texas, to the late Dorothy L. Brown and B.H. Later in life, Jimmy Kennon lovingly became The Father figure to her.
Affectionately known as "Neicey" and "Nana," Dorothy was loved dearly by all who knew her. From an early age, she displayed remarkable strength, resilience, and compassion. She had a heart for helping others and was known for giving the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Her family and friends will forever remember her as helpful, loyal, caring, and full of love.
Neicey attended Abilene High School and graduated in 1975. After high school, she attended Nursing School before beginning a dedicated career with the State of Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), where she worked as a Clerk and Caseworker. She truly enjoyed her work with the State and later retired after many years of faithful service. Through her dedication and hard work, she earned the respect and admiration of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Neicey found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved shopping - "a store hated to see her coming lol" - watching the news while drinking coffee, listening to old-school music, and relaxing on her porch. She also had a deep passion for cooking and treasured every moment spent with her Children affectionately known as "Neicey's Three The Hard Way.", Grand-Children, and Great-Grandchildren.
Orange, Texas became her place of peace and happiness after relocating there with her Children in 1998. There, she formed lifelong friendships with Precious Joy and Tiny Jackson. She often reminisced about her years in Orange and spoke lovingly about how much she desired to return one day.
Family was the heart of Neicey' s life. As a Mother, she was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and guidance to her Children, Malaka, Muhammad, and Khalila, teaching them the value of perseverance and hard work. She shared a special bond with her only son, Muhammad Taylor, whom she lovingly nicknamed "Handsome"; her First-Born Grandson, Jautorian Mosby ("Butta"), affectionately called "Poo-Poo"; and her Son-In-law through love, Jed Mosby.
On May 6, 2026, while in hospice care, Neicey peacefully answered God's call and entered eternal rest in Abilene, Texas. Though she will be deeply missed, her love, kindness, laughter, and beautiful spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
