Dolorez Castillo Castro, 90, went to be with our Lord on August 24, 2024. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Dolorez was born in Bastrop, Texas on February 28, 1934 to Federico and Maria Castillo, one of eight children. As a child, she was a hard worker and helped her family by picking cotton. While attending a dance for her older sister's birthday, she met Pedro Castro, her first and only boyfriend. Pedro was the love of her life and they were married on October 2, 1950. They were blessed with eight children.
Dolorez was the best example to our family of a woman after God's own heart. She lovingly, gracefully and joyfully dedicated her life to caring for others. Not only did she raise eight children and selflessly care for multiple grandkids, she also worked as a nurse's aide for over 20 years. Dolorez was the best wife to Pedro, always supporting him and making sure he was fed and taken care of. Even though she lived a lot of her years in pain, she never complained and always sacrificed through the pain for her family with joy.
Dolorez enjoyed watching sports, whether it was kids or grandkids or the Texas Rangers. She also enjoyed word search puzzles and watching family feud and other games shows.
She was the epitome of love, sacrifice and grace. She was a devout Catholic and got her strength from our Lord. Along with being devoted to loving and praying for her family, she had a devotion to our Mother Mary, praying multiple rosaries a day. She was steadfast and led by example. She was strong, loving, loyal and kind. We will miss her everyday, but we know she is praying for us as we will pray for her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Pedro; her parents; six siblings; and daughter, Rita Castro.
Survivors include children, Pedro Castro Jr., Gloria Sepeda, Lydia Flores, Pat Castro, Ruben Castro, Larry Castro, and Robert Castro; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lidia Serna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
