In Loving Memory

Corrine “Nanny” Hansen went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, with her family by her side.

On April 6, 1930, a very special woman was born in Paducah, Texas. Over the next 96 years, she touched countless lives, loved deeply, prayed faithfully, and created a legacy that can never be replaced.

Our precious Nanny loved her family with all her heart and soul. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren beyond words. She was blessed with three children: Peggy (Don Ballard), Lisa Phillips Ashley, and Phillip (Rhonda Hansen). Through them came eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren—36 people who were blessed to call her Nanny. She loved every one of them fiercely and completely.

She also leaves behind two sisters, many nieces and nephews, and countless family members and friends—many of whom became family.

As deeply as Nanny loved her family, however, she loved Jesus even more.

Her faith was not simply something she talked about; it was the foundation of her life. She wanted everyone she met to know Jesus as their Savior. She prayed for people, spoke openly about the Lord, and longed for her family and everyone around her to know the same hope and salvation that meant so much to her.

Nanny was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church for 61 years. Whether she was serving on the bus route, teaching Sunday school, or working quietly behind the scenes, she was always willing to serve. Her relationship with God was the greatest part of her life, and she faithfully shared that love through the way she lived.

After retiring from the Social Security Administration, Nanny found another calling: taking care of children. She was not someone who could simply sit still, and caring for children brought her great joy. Over the years, she cared for many, many, many children, giving them the same love, patience, and tenderness she gave her own family. So many children were fortunate enough to be loved by her, and we know she left a piece of her heart with every one of them.

Because Nanny spent her entire life caring for others, we believe she held on as long as she did because she was not ready to leave until she knew she had done everything she could to point people toward Jesus. She wanted everyone to know Him. Perhaps that was her final mission—to love us, pray for us, and remind us one more time that this life is not the end.

Now, the woman who spent her life caring for everyone else can finally rest.

We know she is no longer hurting or tired. She is home with the Savior she loved, surrounded by the peace she trusted in all her life.

But we weren’t ready.

We wanted more time—more hugs, more stories, more phone calls, more prayers, and more ordinary days with our Nanny. Her chair may be empty and her voice may be quiet, but the love she gave us will continue to shape who we are. We will carry her lessons, remember her laughter, and keep her faith alive in the way we love and care for one another.

Nanny, thank you for giving us a lifetime of love. Thank you for praying for us, guiding us, and showing us what it means to serve God and love people well. We hope the lives we live will reflect all that you taught us, and we hope that, from Heaven, we make you proud.

Your absence will always be felt, but so will your presence—in our memories, in our families, and in every act of kindness inspired by your example. Until we meet again, we will hold you close in our hearts and trust the promise you believed so faithfully: that this goodbye is not forever.

We love you, Nanny.

We will miss you always.

Until we meet again in Heaven, rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus.

In lieu of traditional sympathy gifts, the family kindly asks that you consider sending flowers or plants in Nanny’s memory. She loved them dearly, and they would be a meaningful tribute to the beauty, warmth, and love she brought into the lives of others.
