Connie A. Leetsch, 94, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in Abilene, Texas. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2026, in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5410 Buffalo Gap Road. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Connie was born on November 19, 1931, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to John and Mary Alaniz. After graduating from high school, she proudly served her country by joining the United States Air Force. It was during her service that she met the love of her life, Cecil Leetsch. The couple were married on April 1, 1954, and shared many devoted years together.
Connie and Cecil were blessed with three children: Phyllis, Howard, and William. She was an active member of several organizations, including Beta Sigma Phi, Ladies of the Abilene State Supported Living Center, and the Retired Military Wives Club. Connie was cofounder of the Retired Military Wives Club over 30 years ago whereas she served continuously in all Officer Positions. She loved setting up raffles for charity, playing Bunco, and social luncheons. She will be deeply missed by the ladies who were truly Blessed by her friendship. Connie dedicated many years to volunteer work within her community, always giving her time and heart to others.
Connie enjoyed gardening, watching birds, and traveling. A true world traveler, she embraced new places and experiences with joy and curiosity. Above all, Connie cherished her family. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and treasured grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Alaniz; her husband, Cecil Leetsch; her daughter, Phyllis Leetsch; one grandchild, Ashley Leetsch; one great grandchild, Madison Hurst; and her two sisters, Maria Stimus, and Beatrice Trevino.
Connie is survived by her two sons, Howard Leetsch, and William Leetsch; her grandchildren, Vanessa Quest, Nathan Leetsch, Tiffany Bamlet, George Champigny, Michael Champigy; and great grandchildren, Kristen Hurst, Jaxson Bamlet, Samantha Bamlet, Briella Champigny, Mia Champigny, Gia Champigny; and one sister, Celia Frazar.
