It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christine Torress, who left us peacefully on January 12, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on November 13, 1956, Christine lived a life filled with love, compassion, and devotion to her family and community. A cherished resident of Abilene, Texas, she dedicated over 20 years of her life as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, followed by a tender role as a caregiver with Visiting Angels, where she continued her legacy of compassion by caring for others, especially after tending to her aging parents.
Christine was known for her sweet spirit, quiet demeanor, and the wonderful smile that could brighten any room. She embodied a profound sense of spirituality and kindness, always praying for and uplifting those around her. Her loving heart leaves an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Melinda Smith; her cherished granddaughter, Chloe Smith; her dear sister, Delilah Lopez; brothers Edward Torres and Jaime Torres, along with his wife, Mary Torres; and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Christine was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ralph and Armando Torres.
Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Christine's life during a visitation at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 6:00 -7:00 and 7:00-8:00 PM Rosary . A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 2:00 PM, also at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, with all those who loved her invited to come together in remembrance of a truly remarkable woman.
Christine's legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire us all. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit and smile will forever remain in our hearts.
