Catalina Garza Auses, 92, of Sonora, Texas, passed away at 11:22 am on 02/18/2026 in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a Rosary ceremony from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, located at 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX 79606.
The funeral service will take place on Friday, February 27, 2026, starting at 1:00 PM, with burial to follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. The family invites all who knew and loved Catalina to join them in these ceremonies, celebrating the life and legacy of a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Catalina was born in Sonora, Texas to Eusebio and Brigida Garza on March 22, 1934. She married Domingo Auses on September 13, 1967 in Del Rio, Texas. Catalina was the cornerstone of this family.
Catalina is preceded in death by parents - Eusebio and Brigida Garza, brothers - Juan Garza, Hipolito Garza, Benancio Garza, Jacinto Garza, Julio Garza, sisters - Carmen Escobar, Guadalupe Trujillo.......
Catalina is survived by loving spouse of 58 years, Domingo, daughter's-Mary Vickle, Toni and husband James Sargent, Rose Matthew, sisters - Remedios Acosta, Maria Castilleja, brother -Eusebio Garza, grandchildren - Michael Steele, Krissy and Kendal Steele, Lelani and Aaron Lopez, Gabby Nguyen, Bridget Matthew, great-grandchildren - Zany Steele, Zaidin Steele, Zander Steele, Kaci and Connor Antes, Ellie Lopez. Sister-in-law - Licha and husband Julian Martinez. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews.
Pallbearers will include Michael Steele, Aaron Lopez, Bobby Matthew, Pepe Trujillo, Ruben Garza, and Jorge Martinez, who will honor Catalina by serving in this special role.
The family of Catalina wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Kinder Hearts Hospice staff; Holly, Ro, Lacey, Judy, Kevin, Leslie, Cynthia, LaTheresa, Jordan, Kim, Sabrina and so many more that helped get us through this process.
