Carolyn Jean Johnson, also known as Carolyn Jean Kirk, left this world on July 21, at the age of 87. Born on November 23, 1938, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Arlena and Harold Pittman. Jean spent her early years in El Paso, Alamogordo, and DeLeon.

Jean graduated from Abilene High School and spent a very brief time at the University of Texas as she chose to start a life with and marry Frank Kirk, with whom they welcomed three children. Years Later, Jean found love again with Richard Johnson, whom she married on April 1, 2005, and the two built a life together in Fairway Oaks until his passing on July 20, 2010. 

As a resident of Abilene, Texas, Jean was an active member of her community, enjoying the Abilene Philharmonic and visiting the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens and the Dallas Arboretum. Jean was a fine pianist, and her family enjoyed her talent. She was often found sewing, making amazing outfits for her children when they were young. Jean's favorite pastimes were completing crossword puzzles, a daily ritual that kept her sharp But listening to Johnny Mathis, Barbara Streisand and Frank Sinatra, to name a few, was probably her favorite thing to do.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Marisa, and her husband, David Doan, of Abilene, Texas, and their children, Christopher and Andrea. Her daughter Perri, husband Steven Partridge, of Dallas, Texas, and their children, Eliot and Emily Partridge; and her son, Arnie, and wife, Keri Kirk, of Granbury, Texas and their children Kyle Walker, Ryan Rodriguez, and Madison Kirk. Jean cherished 5 great grandchildren, and she is also survived by her Sister Pamela Crump and brother Larry Pittman

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jean's life at her funeral services, which will be held on July 28, 2026, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas. The service will begin at 11:30 AM, followed by a reception to honor her memory at 12:30 PM. For those who cannot attend in person, an Encore Livestream will be available, starting at 11:30 AM, ensuring that loved ones can partake in this heartfelt farewell through social media.

Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her loved ones. Carolyn Jean Johnson will be deeply missed, but her memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
