With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Caleb Devereaux Jr., affectionately known as Junior, who left us peacefully on July 31, 2024, with his beloved mom by his side. Born on April 16, 2013, in Abilene, Texas, to Vanessa Ann Rodriguez, Junior was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew him. A visitation will be 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, August 6, 2024 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 2525 Westview, Abilene, Texas.
Despite facing the challenge of being deaf from an early age, Junior's resilience and determination shone through as he quickly mastered American Sign Language, opening a world of communication and connection with those around him. Junior had just triumphantly completed the 5th grade and was eagerly looking forward to starting middle school alongside his friends.
Junior's zest for life was evident in everything he did. Whether he was dancing, singing, or creating TikTok videos with his cherished sisters, Makayla and Miyah, his infectious energy and creativity were boundless. A budding baseball player, Junior proudly earned the title of Most Improved Player on his team last year, showcasing his dedication and love for the game.
Junior's heart was as big as his smile, filled to the brim with love and compassion for everyone he met. His passion for music and dancing was rivaled only by his enthusiasm for school and learning. His radiant smile could light up any room, and he found immense joy in spending quality time with his family and friends.
A lover of all things fun and playful, Junior adored Hello Kitty, Spider-Man, and even had a knack for doing hair. His vibrant spirit and warm-hearted nature left an indelible mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to have known him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Antonio and Petra Rodriguez, and his uncle, Michael Anthony Rodriguez.
Junior is survived by his loving mother, Vanessa Ann Rodriguez; and his sisters, Makayla and Miyah Devereaux; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Caleb Devereaux Jr.'s memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. His life, though short, was filled with moments of pure happiness and love, and he will be deeply missed by all.
