Betty Jean Renfro Rooney

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Betty Jean Rooney on August 22, 2025.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Texas State Veteran Cemetery at Abilene, 7457 W. Lake Road, Abilene, Texas.

Born on September 29,1959, in Littlefield, Texas, to Edward A. Renfro and Dorothy A. Sanders Renfro, Betty lived a life marked by resilience, service, and devotion to her family. After graduating from Baird High School in 1978, she proudly enlisted in the Army National Guard, where she served her country with honor. Following her time in the Guard, she worked in various roles throughout the Longview community, prior to spending her final days in Merkel, Texas.

Betty found joy in the simple but meaningful moments of life. She was an avid reader, and her greatest happiness came from the time she shared with her husband of 25 years, Aaron Rooney.

She is survived by her husband, Aaron Rooney; her sisters, (Rosalyn Ann Smith) and (Linda Sue Cochran); two nephews, (Christopher J. Cochran & Travis E. Conchran) two nieces, (Belinda Smith & Joann Maine), and numerous great nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her bleoved parents, Edward and Dorothy, and by her two sons, Kenneth Weems Jr. and Howard Arnet Waldon and one nephew David Smith Jr.

Betty will be remembered for her quiet strength, her loving heart, and the warmth she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, and her memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew her.
