Obituary

Arlene Milliken White

September 24, 1952 – September 12, 2026

Arlene Milliken White, 73, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on September 12, 2026.

Arlene was born on September 24, 1952, in Big Spring, Texas, to Bill and Lee Milliken. She was a resident of Coahoma, Texas, for many years and a faithful member of Coahoma First Baptist Church, where she played the organ for more than 50 years beginning at the age of 13. She married her high school sweetheart, Guy White, on July 24, 1971.

After marriage, Arlene and Guy moved to Lubbock, Texas, in 1972, where she worked on campus in the Administration Building while Guy attended Texas Tech University. After graduation, they lived briefly in El Paso before returning to Coahoma to start a family. She was a talented bookkeeper, owned a Xerox agency, and later worked as a paralegal and in administration — all roles in which she excelled. After retiring, they moved to Abilene and joined Wylie Baptist Church, where she made many close friends.

Arlene loved her husband, was proud of her two sons, and delighted in her six grandchildren, who knew her as “Nana.” She was an amazing cook and was happiest when she had “all her chickens under one roof.” She will be dearly missed, but her family takes solace in the knowledge of her deep faith and enduring love.

Arlene is survived by her devoted husband, Guy White; her mother, Lee Milliken; her sons Matthew White and his wife Lauren, and their children Samuel, James, and Margot of Grapevine; David White and his wife Jessica, and their children Charlotte, Hudson, and Harrison of Abilene; and her brothers, Mark Milliken and his wife Bridget, and Brad Milliken and his wife Chantal.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Milliken, and her parents-in-law, Guy White, Sr., and June Marie White.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elmwood Funeral Home in Abilene.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Wylie Baptist Church.

Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Coahoma.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Texans on Mission (formerly Texas Baptist Men) Disaster Relief at texansonmission.org/donate.
