Angela Marsalis-Alcala

Angela Marsalis-Alcala, 61, of Abilene, was called home to Heaven on the morning of September 5, 2025 after a courageous battle with illness in the 2 1/2 years leading up to her passing. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX 79606.

Angie was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was born on August 7, 1964, in Fort Benning, Georgia, to Grandville (Sam) and Joyce Scott Mize, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by a large circle of family and friends who will miss her generous heart and fun-loving spirit dearly.

Angie's early life was shaped by her father's 21-year service as an Army Aviator. As a child, she lived with her older brother Tommy in Fort Benning, GA, and Fort Wainwright, AK. Later, Angie, Tommy, and their younger brother Sammy made their home in Muscle Shoals, AL, where Angie graduated from Muscle Shoals High School in 1982.

In 1983, Angie moved to Abilene, where she built a remarkable 42-year career in Property Management and Real Estate. She became a licensed Real Estate Broker in 1998 and founded Key Property Management & Real Estate. Angie was a respected leader in her community, serving in various roles within the Big Country Apartment Association, Texas Apartment Association, and the National Apartment Association. She also worked closely with the City of Abilene and Abilene Housing Authority, serving on several housing-related committees. Angie was an active member of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, Regional Crime Victims Crisis Center, Abilene Board of Realtors, and the Women's Council of Realtors.

Angie loved her community deeply and was always looking for ways to give back and make it better. Whether through her professional work, civic involvement, or faith-based service, she poured her energy into helping others and improving the city she called home. Her heart for service and dedication to progress left a lasting mark on Abilene and those who were fortunate to work alongside her.

Angie was deeply involved in the Big Country Emmaus Community. She loved participating in the 72-hour "Walks" and Candlelight services that offered spiritual renewal and connection. The women she journeyed with during her own walk and in her reunion group became lifelong friends and sisters in Christ.

Above all, Angie loved children, especially her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Being with them brought out her playful side and gave her the chance to be a kid again. She was the "fun grandma," always up for a laugh, an adventure, or a late-night escapade. She passed on life lessons of working hard, playing harder, and cherishing family traditions: midnight runs to Walmart and Krystal with the cousins in Alabama, Gmama dance parties,

marshmallow fights, golf cart/Kubota rides, all-night movie marathons, crafts and late-night games.

Angie lived fully, gave generously, and loved deeply. Her legacy lives on in the family she adored and the countless lives she touched with her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering joy.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Angie's life and her victory over breast cancer.
