Agnes Chavez Bruner, age 83, peacefully passed away on March 7, 2024, in Abilene, Texas. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal services held. Those who wish to offer condolences are invited to do so online.

Agnes was born on May 8, 1940, in Abilene, Texas, to her loving parents, Victor Chavez and Frances Casillas. She was a proud native of Abilene and held a deep love for her hometown.

Throughout her life, Agnes found joy in the simple pleasures, with dancing holding a special place in her heart. However, her greatest source of happiness came from spending time with her cherished grandchildren. She treasured every moment shared with them and delighted in watching them grow.

Agnes was a dedicated and hardworking woman who devoted herself to raising her family. Her unwavering love and selflessness were evident in everything she did. Family always came first for Agnes, and she lived her life with the belief that they were her greatest blessing.

Though she may no longer be with us, Agnes leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and strength. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Agnes is preceded in death by her parents, Victor Chavez, and Frances Todd; her late husband, Bill Bruner.

She is survived by her children, Debra Porras Zermeno, Priscilla Porras and husband Joe, Rudy Porras and wife Kim, Frances Porras Beard and husband Ted, and Manuel Bruner; 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandsons, 11 great granddaughters, her brothers, Larry Chavez and wife MaryAnn, and Luie Chavez; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In honoring Agnes Chavez Bruner's life, let us remember the warmth of her smile, the kindness of her heart, and the love that she shared so generously. Memorials may be made in her honor to Meals on Wheels and Hendrick Hospice of Abilene.
