Adolfo Jose Sumaya Hernandez, 48, passed away on June 25,2025 in Abilene, TX.

A visitation will be held on Monday June 30, 2025, from 6:00 PM- 7:00 PM and the rosary will follow from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be Tuesday July 1, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 837 Jeanette Street, Abilene, Texas. Entombment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas.

Adolfo was born on April 17, 1977, in Abilene, Texas to his father Morris R. Hernandez and his mother Martha Hernandez. Adolfo was born prematurely but from day one he was a fighter. Every obstacle that he was faced with he was able to overcome; he was very strong and feisty.

Adolfo had a special affinity for music, which accompanied him through life, lifting his spirit and bringing him joy. Christmas time held a special place in his heart, marked by the beautiful lights and joyous music that filled the air. The sound of his mother's voice brought him immense comfort and happiness. Some of Adolfo's favorite things were hamburgers, cokes, car rides, and back rubs. He loved his house parents Ruby and Andrea they took care of him for 20 years. They made sure that he was well taken care of and always dressed him nicely. They always made sure that he had everything that he needed and loved him very much.

Adolfo is survived by his father, Morris R Hernandez; his mother, Martha Hernandez; his siblings, Mariel C. Miranda, Terri M. Hernandez, Yom E. Yi, Jasso O. Hernandez, Diego Hernandez, Mariqua M. Hernandez, Leo Castro; his nieces and nephews, Marivel Miranda, Isabella Miranda, Syriana Miranda, Christopher Perez, Jaxon Hernandez, Kassandra Chavez, Carlos J. Chavez, Illiana Chavez, Jordan Yi, Jayden Yi, Lexi Yi, Jacob Yi, Yom E. Yi, Christopher Rivera, Jacob Hernandez, Anarzelia Hernandez, Victoria Hernandez, Nadia Hernandez, Mya Hernandez, Ezmay Hernandez, Joe Angel Torres, Andres Torres, and David Torres; his aunts and uncles, Cecilia Lopez and husband Roy, Terry Hernandez, Sophia Garza and husband Richard, Henry Castillo, Lydia Rose and husband Johnny, Joe Castro and wife Ester, Art Castro, Christopher Castro; and his grandmother, Anna Castro; and many other friends and family members.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Demas Hernandez; his nephew, Diego Hernandez Jr.; his paternal grandparents, Morris and Ella Hernandez; his maternal grandfather, Joe Castro; his aunt, Cheri Moreno; his brother-in-law, Jay Miranda; his paternal cousin, Tina Castillo; his cousins, Santos Lopez and William Castillo.

Adolfo is going to be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.
