December 6, 1973  -  May 22, 2017

Amira St. James, 43 of Abilene, Texas passed away at Hendrick Hospice Care on May 22nd, 2017, with family and close friends by her side.
Amira was born on December 6, 1973, in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Debbie (Loring) Green. She married Christopher St. James on August 19, 2000, in Glendale, Arizona.

Amira impacted the lives of countless people through volunteer work in important community programs. As a state representative for the Heroes for Hope Program, Amira inspired others to fight cancer with courage and bravery. Raising money for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life was a passion of hers. She collected blankets for the Noah Project women's shelter and Child Protective Services. At MD Anderson, she led a campaign to provide activity kits to hospitalized children. She formed the first spouse program at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, and to empower others, Amira's journey with endometriosis was chronicled in a book by Kerry-Ann Morris.
She loved the ocean, geocaching, cross-stich, scrapbooking, making hand-crafted cards and baby blankets, but most of all, spending time with her precious family.

The continuous outpouring of love, prayers, and support for Amira during her nearly seven year cancer battle is a testament to how people felt about her, and the difference she made in the lives of others. She was a role model for courage and grace, and relied upon her faith to carry her through the most difficult times.

In addition to her husband, Chris; Amira is survived by her son, Troy; and daughter, Kayla, both at home; her brother, Jay Harris (Abigail) of Peoria, AZ; her mother-in-law, Connie Ward of Perry, Ohio; her father-in-law, John St. James of Painesville, Ohio; her sister-in-law Courtney St. James (Mike); her grandmother, Monnie Loring of Glendale, AZ; aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; nephews; as well as hundreds of close friends.
