Joyce Marie Owens went home to be with her Lord, Savior and heavenly family on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. One of her favorite songs was “When We All Get to Heaven.” Her husband Hubert Owens of 69 years passed away January 30, 2017. Her son Ronnie Owens died October 16, 2016 and her grandson Joseph Owens passed away December 1, 2015. We know they are having a wonderful family reunion.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 12 Noon to 2 PM located in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel; 5750 HWY 277 South. Funeral service will follow at 2 PM in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.
Joyce was born in Shelby, Ohio in May of 1930 to Homer Fred Howk and Blanche Lamont Neman Howk. Her parents; brother, Wesley Howk; sisters, Alta Hiler and Joann Shelby proceeded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandy Owens, Sherry Coley and her husband Dale; her grand-daughter, Colette McCadden and her husband John; great grandchildren, Greg, Evan, Owen and Meagan; grand-son, Brian Coley and his wife Erin; grand-daughter, Twillia Tevebaugh and her husband Craig; great grand-son, Taylor Tevebaugh; great grand-daughter, Danica Irving; great grandson, Bobby Irving; sister, Carol Sue Biggs and her husband Jim; brother, Fred Howk and his wife Marilyn. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
She worked for Timex and Safeway while living in Abilene. She moved with her family to Fort Worth in 1969. She went back to school and became a nurse and worked for Manor Care for 20 years. She retired at 78 years old. She had a strong influence on a lot of people’s lives. She and her husband moved back to Abilene 8 years ago.
She will be remembered for her sweet spirit, her sense of humor and the twinkle in her eyes. Also for her deep faith, her love for the Lord and love for her family and friends. She was a member of the New Beginnings United Pentecostal Church. We will miss you, but will see you again.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice of the Big Country or to your local missionary work.

Our deepest sympathy and condolences for Joyce's passing, and also for Hubert and Ronnie most recently having passed, as well.
I have so many fond memories of your family from when we lived on 10th Street back when Ronnie and I were in grade school together at Taylor.

You all are in our prayers.
