Bobby Gene Wilkins, 60, passed peacefully November 15, 2008 in Hospice care at Hendrick Medical Center.
Visitation will be 6-8:00 PM Monday, November 17th, at Elmwood Funeral Home 5750 HWY 277 South. His funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday November 18th, at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Bobby was born November 21, 1947 in Aspermont, Texas to Eugene Dee Wilkins and Ruby Carter. He was raised in Lorenzo and Hamlin Texas. He married Mary Frances Mauldin on May 18, 1968 in San Antonio, Texas. Bobby retired form the U.S. Air Force in 1990 as an E-6, flight simulator instructor with numerous metals and awards. After Retirement he worked security for the Mall of Abilene for 13 Years. Bobby received a degree in IMACA and was also involved in Pop-Warner football as a Buccaneer for several years.
Survivors include his wife Frances Wilkins; one son Jeffery Wilkins; two daughters Diana Jackson and KCi Carter; four grandchildren, Khilla, Kamren, Kenzlee Jackson, and Devyan Wilkins of Abilene; two brothers Dewayne of Throckmortin, TX and Ricky Carter of Hamlin, TX; one sister Johnna Barnes of Bangs, TX, his Mother-in-law Dolores Wilson of Terrell, TX and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Eugene Dee Wilkins, his mother Ruby Jo Carter, his step-dad Paul Carter, and his Brother Dorall EdwinWilkins.

I will miss him greatly. Just goes to show you should never take your closest friends for granted. You never know when they wont be there any longer. I regret I didnt keep in touch with him better over the years but I never forgot him or the brotherly love we shared. My heart goes out to the family.
