Harvey ED Byrd, 59, died Thursday, January 10, 2008 at his home near Ft. Phantom Lake. A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, January 16th at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.
Mr. Byrd was born in Haskell County on January 3, 1949 the son of Harvey Byrd and Wanda Singleton Byrd. He served our country in Vietnam for two tours and was in the Navy a total of 12 years. He was a truck driver for Roadrunner for 27 years and worked 3 years for Lone Star Transportation.
Survivors include his wife, Sue of Ft. Phantom; one son, Jerry Byrd of Clovis, NM; two grandchildren, Emily Kendel Byrd of New Mexico; two step children, Gil O. Hunt of Abilene and Diane Jones of Clyde; two step grandchildren, Larkin Colby Jones of Clyde; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
His parents and two sisters preceded him death.
The family would like to offer thanks to Dr. Ralph Heaven for the special care given to Ed through numerous hospital stays and to the Home Health staff for the tender care given to Ed when he came home.
